hey folks this is Steve with nonprofit ally and today we're going to talk about the difference between hosting domains and websites now if you're taking the now how to build a non-profit website course on the nonprofit alikom website this is a supplemental lesson for you and I'll help you get through lesson number one okay so building a website is a lot like building a house when you go to build a house the very first thing you're going to need is a piece of land to build that house on so that piece of land that's your hosting so you're going to build a house on land you're gonna build a website with a host so you get hosting and now you have a place to build your house which means this is just life number 2 dry timber - you're going to build your house so your house is basically in this analogy your website so you build your website on hosting or in this case you build your house on land cool so far so great right once you have your house and your land of course you need an address and that address that's your domain right your WWE website com so in this case since this is a virtual your website a virtual place your address is your appeal books right okay so this is your domain this is your website and this is your land this is your hosting so your resident is built on hosting and you have a domain which is deer address that's how I three work together now in order to do all this you don't have to buy all three in different places most hosts provides the opportunity to build all three I recommend using Hostgator it's one I've used in the past and actually have a really good server at a really affordable price there's other ones out there there's blue hosters one on one there's GoDaddy of course right and all three are actually most hosts offer the opportunity for you to get hosting fire domain and install your website typically in one click we use WordPress when we build our nonprofit website in the course and all of those hosting agencies GoDaddy Bluehost and Hostgator I offer that one-click opportunity and you install WordPress cool so that's how it works this is the difference between hosting domain and web sites so I hope those helpful folks give us a good like down there and if you're not taking the how to build a non-profit website but you need a website and actually it's not just for nonprofits anybody can go to a web site with this course that link is also in the description notes below alright thanks for watching folks
